Thurmond Dead. In the death of Mrs. William D. Thurmond Zebulon has lost one of its most estimable women. Mrs. Thurmond was the beautiful young wife of the president of Jeff David Institute. She had not been a resident of this place long, but her charming disposition and inate refinement won the lasting friendship of all who met her. Mrs. Thurmond became the mother of a little girl about three weeks ago. She contracted fever several days afterwards and despite the most gentle nursing and the best medical attention she sank into the sleep of death last Sunday morning. The remains were carried to Culloden on the evening train for interment. In speaking of Mrs. Thurmond's death the Monroe Advertiser says: "The sad intelligence reached this city Sunday of the death of Mrs. William D. Thurmond, which inexpressibly sad event occurred at Zebulon, on Sunday morning at about 7 o'clock. Prof. and Mrs. W. D. Thurmond were, up to a short while ago, residents of this city, where they have many relatives and friends. They removed from this city to Zebulon. Mrs. Thurmond, nee Miss Zellner, was a most estimable lady adn her amiable disposition and noble traits of character made an admirer of everybody who came in her presence." The Journal sympathizes with the parents and other relatives to their loss, but especially with the husband whose grief is too deep to be yet fully understood by even himself. May the wisdom of the Kind Father soften the sorrow by enabling him to rear the child to be a useful and true woman--a likeness of its sainted mother. Additional Comments: Eva Lillian Zellner m.
