His neck was broken and one of his eyes badly bruised. A coroner's inquest was held, but we have not heard the verdict. A white man named Whaley was under arrest, suspicioned of being concerned in the matter. A negro was also arrested, but we do not know the result of the investigation. At present the affair is wrapped in mystery. The deceased was a young man of rather weak mind, peaceable and inoffensive, belonging to a very good family. A full investigation will be held.
