A Popular Griffin Gentleman Marries a Zebulon Lady. Probably no event has occurred in social circles for months past that has caused such a fervor of excitement as did the announcement of the marriage of Mr. Eugene Beckham, of Griffin, and Miss Maude Baker, of Zebulon. The marriage took place Sunday night at the residence of Mr. Joe Sparks, Rev. Mr. McM. Key officiating. Mr. Beckham has long been a suitor for the hand of Miss Baker, but his suit did not meet the favor of the young lady's parents. Sunday afternoon Mr. Beckham left Griffin and went direct to the home of Miss Baker. The young couple left home for the ostensible purpose of taking a drive, but instead came direct to Griffin and were married as stated above. The contracting parties are well known in Griffin, and the News joins with a host of friends in wishing them a long life of happiness and prosperity. - Griffin News. Mr. Beckham is one of the postal clerks on the Georgia Midland road. Additional Comments: Eugene Ellsworth Beckham was a son of John Carson Beckham and Mary A.C. Mann.
