The Pike County Journal, October 29, 1926

Marriage License Recorded After Fifty Years

Record was made this week by Judge G.B. Ridley of a marriage which occurred in 
Pike county on December 23, 1875. It was the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. John L. 
Reid, of Griffin. The marriage ceremony was performed by the late Rev. Jesse 
M. Wood who for some reason failed to turn the license in to the ordinary for 
record. The license was recently found by a daughter of Rev. Wood’s among his 
papers and was given to Mr. Reid, who in turn brought it to Judge Ridley for 
record.
