The groom is an energetic young man and the bride is an intelligent young lady. We wish them a long life and much happiness. Also: Jeff Davis Institute Notes Of course we were all surprised! Mr. Charley Hartley who was a student here May 1st was married to Miss Ida Brooks last Sunday May 3rd. The bridegroom was only eighteen years of age, and the bride sixteen. The ceremony was performed by justice of the peace P.R. Coker, at the residence of Mr. Ross near New Hope church. We know it will go rather hard with the new bridegroom to leave the shade of the schoolroom, where he has been all year, and go right into the broiling hot sun of the cotton field, his complexion that has been so fair under the roof will darken beneath the rays of a burning sun. Both would do better to come to school. We would be glad to have them now, it is never too late for knowledge. Though rather young for their position in life, we hope for them a happy future.
