Hartnett of Gay, Ga. announces the engagement of her daughter, Dorothy, to Mr. Royal K. Mann, the wedding to take place in June. - - - Wednesday, June 16, 1915 pg. 6 Hartnett-Mann Gay, Ga., June 15 (Special) The marriage of Miss Dorothy Hartnett and Mr. Royal Kipling Mann took place at the home of the bride in Gay, Ga. on last Tuesday afternoon (June 8) at 6 o'clock. Miss Hartnett was attended by Miss Mary Strickland of Atlanta as maid of honor. Mr. R. N. Estes, a cousin of the groom, was best man. The ceremony was performed by Elder R. H. Barwick of Columbus. Immediately after the ceremony the bride and groom with six other couples left in cars for Warm Springs where a party supper was waiting for them. Additional Comments: Dorothy, the daughter of William H. Hartnett (b. Ireland) and Dora Estelle Benard (b. Pike Co., Georgia), was born June 14, 1897 in Georgia, most likely in the Molina area of Pike Co. or in Gay, Meriwether Co., Georgia. She died Sept 27, 1989 in Meriwether Co., Georgia. Royal was born March 9, 1892 in Gay, Meriwether Co., Georgia. He died December 27, 1963 in Coweta Co., Georgia. He was a resident of Meriwether Co., Georgia at the time of his death. They were the parents of a son, John T. Mann (1921-1986).
