VanLandingham of Cairo, Ga., to Miss Ettie Jones of this place on the 20th inst. The Pike County Journal Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia: December 23, 1892 A Happy Wedding At the residence of Judge Blasingame yesterday morning Mr. R.L. VanLandingham, Cairo, Ga., and Miss Ettie Jones of this place were united in marriage by Rev. F.A. Branch of Fort Valley. The ceremony was solemn and beautiful. The many young people present were charmed with it. Quite a number of handsome and valuable presents were received. After the ceremony the company was tendered a reception at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. McCord three miles from town. The dinner served was notable in point of quality and quantity and was greatly enjoyed. The bride is the possessor of many rare charms of character and among her accomplishments may be mentioned proficiency in vocal and instrumental music. Her touch of the piano keys is that of the true artist and the many who have heard her music on this instrument have pronounced her a regular prodigy. The groom is a splendid young man identified with the business interests of the town in which he lives. (Transcribed 10/26/02 Lynn Cunningham)
