McKinley, the ceremony being performed by Justice R.R. McElroy. The contracting parties are well advanced in years but are among the most respected and substantial citizens of their neighborhood. Justice McElroy, who was in Griffin today, says that they are receiving hearty congratulations. [Transcribed 8/30/2007 Lynn Cunningham] Additional Comments: Elijah McKinley's first wife died in 1892, Mary Evelyn Ballard McKinley's husband (Elijah's brother) died in 1897. When they married in 1902, she was 45 and he was 48. Although they were "well advanced in years" as the article reported, they had a son, Douglas, who was a barber in Zebulon for many years.
