Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, December 2, 1898 Graves - Eason Wednesday, at high noon, at the home of the bride’s parents, 22 Larkin St., Atlanta, Ga., Dr. J.R. Graves of this city was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Eason. Only the family and intimate friends of the bride and groom were present. They left on the evening train and reached here at 6:30 o’clock. They were met at the depot by friends and driven to the home of Mr. J.W. Ford, where a sumptuous supper was served. Mrs. Graves, as Mrs. Eason, was very popular and had many friends. She comes from one of the pioneer families of Fayette county and will receive a warm welcome in Zebulon. Dr. Graves, the groom, located here in April, 1897. He soon succeeded in winning the confidence and esteem of all, and he now enjoys a lucrative practice, one that any older physician might well feel proud of. The Journal joins the friends of the bride and groom in extending best wishes. (Transcribed 08/17/03 Lynn Cunningham) Additional Comments: From the book “Sesquicentennial 1822-1972, Pike County, Georgia:” Zebulon’s Doctors Dr. John R. Graves Dr. John R. Graves was a General Practitioner in Zebulon and Pike County from the 1890's until 1937. He was born in Fayette County, Georgia, on July 20, 1871, and graduated from Atlanta Medical College. He married Miss Minnie Eason and they were the parents of two children, Dr. J. Raymond Graves and Nina Mae Graves Hooker. He later married Mrs. Annie Lou Dennis Gilbert, mother of Carolyn Gilbert. Dr. Graves continued his practice in Pike County with the exception of one year at Chipley, Georgia. He died March 30, 1937, and is buried in East View Cemetery in Zebulon, Georgia.
