Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, April 14, 1899 Earle - Matthews Invitations have been received to the marriage of Miss Emma Mathews to Mr. Marcus B. Earle which takes place at the home of the bride’s Sunday morning at 9 o’clock. The ceremony will be solemnized by Rev. Louis Warrer [sp], chaplain of the Third Georgia Regiment. Miss Matthews is the daughter of Dr. J.B. Matthews, clerk of Pike superior court. She is an accomplished young lady and has many friends. Mr. Earle is from Rome, Ga. He is a cultured young man and has made many friends here by his cordial manner. Also... The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, April 21, 1899 As announced in last week’s Journal, the marriage of Miss Emma Mathews and Mr. M.B. Earle was to occur at 9:30 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of the bride. The ceremony was to be performed by Rev. J.W. Beck, but instead of this, he announced to the crowd that the couple had been man and wife since the 8th of November, 1898.
