Lee - Strickland

Concord, Ga., Nov. 23. - One of the prettiest home wedding of the season 
occurred last Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at Fair Oaks, the country home 
of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Strickland, when their daughter Miss 
Lillie and Mr. R.E. Lee of this city were united in marriage.

Fair Oaks never presented a more attractive appearance than on this occasion. 
Large quantities of handsome flowers and evergreens were attractively used in 
decorations, which presented a lovely and most appropriate scene for such an 
occasion. The bride in a castor brown dress trimmed in white satin and applique 
and hat to match, entered the parlor on the arm of the groom, attended by Miss 
Theo Milligan with C.B. Strickland, and Miss Annie Lee with Mortimer Smith. The 
ceremony was said by Rev. J.W. Beck in his usual mastery and impressive manner. 
After the ceremony the wedding party returned to this city where they were 
given an elegant dinner by the groom’s mother, Mrs. J.H. Lee in her gracious 
and charming manner. Numerous beautiful and costly presents attest to the 
highest esteem in which the young couple are held by those who know them best. 
The bride is a popular and most lovable woman. The groom is a young merchant of 
fine business qualities, and is much admired by a large number of friends.

Richard Edward Lee was a son of John Henry Lee and Mary Eliza Milner. Lillie 
Strickland was a daughter of James Cary Strickland and Martha Rebecca Oxford.
