Barnesville, Ga., September 11, 1890 Hymeneal At the residence of the brides father Mr. J.R. Shockley, last Sunday afternoon, Mr. R.L. Griffin of Atlanta and Miss Emma Shockley of this city were happily united in marriage. At an early hour Sunday afternoon quite a number of guests began to assemble at the bride's parents and ere many minutes had elapsed the parlor was filled to overflowing with invited guests who came to witness the happy event. Immediately after the ceremony was performed the happy couple repaired to the depot and took the west bound train for Atlanta, their future home. They were accompanied by a number of young ladies and gentlemen, who went as far as Milner and returned. All unite in extending to them hearty congratulations and best wishes for a long life of happiness, peace and prosperity. The bridal pair were the recipients of quite a number of useful and handsome gifts. Below we give a partial list of the presents: Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Smith, a handsome dressing case; Mrs. Dr. Wright, a large bottle of fine cologne; Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Anderson, a beautiful set [of] toilet bottles; Misses Belle and Alma Cowder, a handsome lamp; Mrs. J.T. Blalock, a beautiful scarf; Miss Nellie Williams, silver easels; Miss Lula Wright, a silk plush picture frame; Miss Dollie Anderson, a nice water set; Miss Nettie Wright, a beautiful silver frame mirror; Dr. Wright, a nice book; Mr. D.L. Anderson, a set of beautifully decorated plates; Mr. H.A.
