State of Georgia Pike County In the name of God Amen, I Simon Bateman being of advanced life and not knowing the time of my demise deem it just and right-to dispose of the effects with which in kind providence has blefed (blessed) me. Item 1. I give my body to be buried in a decent manner suitable to my condition in life my sprit I commend to the God who gave it in hope of a blefed (blessed) immortality. Item 2. I assine?? my Executors hereinafter appointed to pay all my just debts with as little delay as possible. Item 3. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Bateman with whom I have lived in great peace for the last twenty-four years one hundred acres of lot land number one hundred and eighty-two whereon I now live in the eighth district of originally Monroe now Pike County, fifty acres taken off the east side and fifty acres off the west side of said lot leaving my wife the middle hundred acres of said lot with all its members and appurtenances and all my stock of any description after paying all my just debts. I also bequeath to my wife together with all my household and kitchen furniture for her own use and benefit during her life to use and dispose of it as she may see proper either in life or at her death. Item 4. I direct my Executor to make titles to Sherwood Harper for fifty acres off of the west side of the lot of land named above. Item 5. I give and bequeath to my beloved nephew Simon D. Bateman fifty acres off the east side of the lot of land described above with all its members and appurtenances to him and his heirs forever. Item 6. I give, bequeath and devise to my wife Mary Bateman in addition to my bequests in the third item above all and _____ all my affects not herein otherwise bequeathed in the same ample manner as in the aforesaid third item above. Item 7. I constitute and appoint my worthy friends John Means and William F. Williams Executors of this my last will and testament.
