Cauthen Sr. of said state and county being weak and feeble in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament. Item 1st. I give my soul to God trusting in the merits of a crucified redeemer. Item 2nd. I will all my just debts and funeral expenses to be first paid. Item 3rd. After payment of my just debts my will and desire is that my executor hereinafter named shall allow my beloved wife Mary and my daughter Elizabeth Rebecca to remain in possession and hold as their own as long as they both live and at the death of one to remain the property of the other until her death. In case my daughter Elizabeth Rebecca dies without heir or heirs to be divided between my two daughters Caroline M. Gardner and Amanda L. Wilson equally share and share alike the following named property my home place containing two hundred acres of land more or less on where I now live also my perishable property. Item 4th. My will and desire is that my executor allow my wife Mary and thereafter Elizabeth Rebecca to have and hold as their own until the death of my wife Mary the follwing described property one hundred and sixty five acres of land more or less known as the ----mie Cauthen place. At the death of my wife Mary, my will and desire herein it be divided equally between my daughters Caroline M. Gardner and Amanda L. Wilson. Item 5th. It is my will and desire that my executor give to the heirs of my deceased daughter and to my son-in-law Rivers the ----- of fifteen ----- willing that they have received enough assistance from me to make them equal unto the other heirs of my estate. Item 6th. It is my will and desire that my executor divide the balance of my estate equally between my wife Mary and my three daughters Caroline M. Gardner, Amanda L. Wilson and Elizabeth Rebecca share and share alike. Item 7th. I nominate constitute and appoint my sons in law E.G. Wilson and W.Z. Cauthen and in his presence did attest as witnesses the within writing as his Thomas M. Cauthen's will. That the same was signed and published by Thomas M. Cauthen in thier presence as his last will. That he was at the time of said attestation and signing by himself of sound and disposing mind and memory, that he executed the within paper voluntarily.
