I, James Cauthen being of sound mind and memory and desiring it just and proper to dispose of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me to make and ordain this as my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. Item l. I desire that my body be buried in a decent and Christian manner suitable to my situation in life. My Soul I commend to to God through Jesus Christ whose religion I have professed and I trust enjoyed for may years. Item 2. I desire that all my just debts be paid with as little delay as possible. Item 3. I give bequeath and desire unto my grand son Marcellus F. Cochran and my grand daughter Mrs. E. M. Palmer jointly in fee simple one hundred and fifty acres of land being three fourths of lot of land number (38) thirty eight in the seventh district of originally Monroe now Pike County bounded east by lands of J.C. and E.W. Dozier and on the other sides by the original land lines. Item 4. I give bequeath and desire unto my daughter Mrs. Cornelia E. McLean and her McLean children free from the debts liabilities or control of her present or any future husband and in fee simple my house and lot in Barnesville, Pike County, Georgia and on which I now reside bounded on the north by lot of L. Hamburger and the east by lot of Jesse Stephens estate, on the south by a broad alley in front of M.G. Howards residence and on the west by Greenwood Street. Item 5. I give bequeath and desire unto my grandsons J.C. and E.W. Dozier jointly in fee simple fifty acres of land it being the one fourth of lot of land number thirty seven in the seventh district of origianlly Monroe now Pike County bounded west by lands of J. A. Kitchings and all other sides by the original land lines provided that they pay to my executor the sum of one hundred dollars each towards my burial expenses. Item 6. I desire and direct that all other property of every kind be sold or divided as may seem just and equitable between all the parties named in the proceeding items. Provided that my executor hereinafter named shall be entitled to certain or receive an amount sufficient to pay the expenses that may be necessary in the execution of this my last will and testament and a just compensation to him for the executioin of the same. Item 7. I hereby constitute and appoint my grand son Marcellus F. Cochran my executor and desire that he have, take and use all lawful means that may be had, taken or used in the execution of this my last will and testament as fully as I myself ought or could do were I personally present at the doing or performance of the same. J. Blalock and J.W. Stafford, that the said James Cauthen signed the same freely and voluntarily and was at the time of such signed of sound and disposing mind and memory.
