Cauthen of Pike County Georgia. In the Name of God, Amen. I, Samuel D. Cauthen being of sound mind and disposing memory and knowing that death is certain and life uncertain do desire while here possessed of rational faculties to dispose of my earthly effects and do declare the following to be my last will and testament unless hereafter revoked or amended. First. I desire that my body be as decently interred as my pecuniary circumstances will justify and my soul I commend to a just and merciful God. Second. I desire that all of my effects both real and personal of every description whatever should be sold and all my just and lawful debts of whatever character or description be paid as promptly as possible. Third. After paying my just and lawful debts, I desire that the following sums be set aside for the uses and for the children mentioned in this clause, viz: three hundred dollars to opurchase and erect suitable monuments over my grave and the grave of my wife Rebecca S. Cauthen. One hundred dollars to Nancy J. Cauthen, one hundred dollars to Amanda B. Cauthen, three hundred dollars to Thomas H. Cauthen, four hundred dollars to John J. Cauthen, four hundred dollars to Jordan M. Cauthen. four Hundred dollars to Lenora J. Cauthen and five hundred dollars to Susan F. Cauthen. Said sums to be set aside out of the proceeds of my estate. Fourth. After setting aside the above mentioned sums I desire that the remainder of my estate be equally divided between all of my children namely Lillie R., Sarah E., Nancy J., Martha M., Marian, Eunice, Samuel D., Amanda B. Thomas H. Lenora J., Jordan M., and John J. and Susan F. Cauthen. Fifth. I hereby appoint Augustus P.Turner executor to this my last will and testament. Signed in the presence of the witness who names are hereunto attached. This December 9th 1873} Samuel D.Cauthen E.W. Wooten } J.C. Martin } H. M. Cauthen } March Term 1874 Pike Court of Ordinary Came into open court at this regular term of the court E.M. Wooten, J.C. Martin and H. M. Cauthen and being duly sworn depose and say that they saw Samuel D. Cauthen sign and publish the within as his last will and testament while of sound and disposing mind. They witnessed the same for him at his request and in his presence and in presence of each other and that the same was executed voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed.
