In the name of God Amen.  I John H. Gilmore of the County
of Pike and state of Georgia & having taken into
consideration of the Shortness and uncertainty of this
life, and _____of ___ und__ a ___ ___ which I must
shortly enter into my worthy ___ ____ of ___ but insert
(being) sound in mind and under the sufficiency apply
rational favors: do on this day to rail the eighth day of
August in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred
and twenty seven. ordain, constitute and declare this my
last will and Testament. 

After recommending my soul to that God from which
ordained it. Before whom I believe it shall stand in the
day of Eternity. (A  Proceed to the distribution of my
earthly goods -- That is to say)  in the first place I
will my body after my decease to be buried in a decent
and pleasing manner. 

Item second.  I give unto my dear wife Nancy Gilmore all
my property of any description in order that she may be
enable to raise up my children (to wit) Elizabeth
Gilmore. Susan Gilmore, Libby Gilmore, Jane Gilmore,
Louise Gilmore and Mary Ann Gilmore In a proper manner.

appears to have been one whole page partially damaged by
water and torn apart.

Next writing started approximately on 2nd. line on page
marked '1A' in upper left corner.

1A less and a negro woman by the name of Eliza and one
other negro girl to the name of Lillian also one Negro
boy by the name of David. Be equally divided between my
children (to wit) Elizabeth, Susan, Libby, Jane, Louisa
and Mary Ann Gilmore. 

Item fourth. If my wife Nancy Gilmore should continue a
widow until my children become of age, I will that she
share an Equal part with my children. 

NOTE: Page appears to be in good shape here. No "Item
fifth" listed. 

Item Sixth. I will that a sufficiency of my personal
property be sold to pay my debts which are but few. And
that my wife makes her own choice as to what land or part
shall be so sold. NOTE:One whole line unreadable. 

ITEM Seventh.  I do hereby appoint ordain and constitute
Robert Westmoreland _______, my sole executor carry into
effect this my last will and Testament. 

In testimony whereof I the said John
H. Gilmore shall len___ __  __  hand and affixed my seal
this eighth day of August in the year of our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.

your knowsedge. So Help you God. Sworn to in open court
this ____th day of September 1828
