Green of the County of Pike and State of Georgia, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do hereby make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me I wish my body to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my condition if life and I wish my property disposed of as follows: Item 1st I will and bequeath and devise to my daughter Sophronia L. McDowell four hundred dollars due me by my son J. J. Mays for which amount I hold his notes for, also on Bed Room set of furniture Item 2nd I give bequeath and devise to my son J. J. Mays, a life estate in the following described land. The East half of lot no. 12 originally in the eighth but now in the 7th Dist. Of Pike County Georgia bounded on the North by J. L. Fogg [?] 0n the East by lot 12 in the 7th Dist. Of Pike Co. Georgia on the South by the old Frank Riviers [?] place and on the west by the said J. J. Mays. It is my will wish and desire that my son J. J. Mays shall enjoy his life estate in said above described land exclusively Item 3rd I give will and bequeath and devise the remainder or reversionary interest in the land described in the 2nd item of this my last will and testament to my daughter Sophronia L. McDowell in fee simple. Item 4th I give bequeath and devise to my son the said J. J. Mays four hundred dollars for which amount I now hold his notes, the total amount for which I hold his notes is Eight Hundred Dollars - upon my death my desire and wish is that half of this sum shall be paid to my daughter Sophronia L. McDowell and the other half I give to my son J. J. Mays. Item 5th I give, bequeath and devise to the children of my son J. M. Mays to wit: McDowell, John, Marco B. Lloyd and Dawson Mays, jointly Two hundred acres of land known as lot no. 12 in the 7th Dist. Of Pike County, bounded on the North by W. P. Wright on the east by F. R. Riviers on the south by the old Frank Riviers place, and on the west by lands mentioned in 2nd item of this my last will and Testament - I also give, bequeath and devise to the said children of my son J. M. Mays above set out, said above described lands with the request that they car for and take care of their father as long as he shall live Item 6th It is my will and desire that the said property mentioned in the 5th Item of this my last will and testament shall not be sold and divided until all of said named children of J. M. Mays attain their majority unless the said children so desire and my Executor hereinafter named, shall think it advisable to sell the same sooner in that event my said Executor can then advertise and sell for the purpose of a division among said children and pay over to each his distribution share of said estate. Item 7th I hereby appoint my son J. J. Mays Executor of this my last Will and Testament Signed this the 2nd day of August 1895 Frances A. Green her mark Signed, sealed declared and published by Frances A. Green, as her last Will and Testament in the presence of us, the subscribers who subscribed our names hereto in the presence of said Testatrix and at her special instance and request and in the presence of each other. She signing declaring and publishing in our presence and we signing in her presence, and in the presence of each other. Said last Will and Testament composing the foregoing pages marked 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 & 6 and the said Frances A. Green signed by making her mark Aug. 2nd 1895 John F. Redding G. C. Cornell Jno. F. Howard Georgia Pike County Personally came before me Thos. J. Blasingame Ordinary of said County, At the Regular November Term 1895 of Pike Court of Ordinary, J. F. Redding one of the witnesses to the foregoing paper purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Mrs. Frances A. Green, late of said county, deceased who being duly sworn says that he together with G. C. Cornell and Jno. F. Howard, the other witnesses to said will, saw Mrs. Frances A. Green sign by making her mark, and heard her publish and declare the foregoing as her last will and testament and at the time of signing said Will she was of sound disposing mind and memory, that they witnessed the same, for her, at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other and that the same was executed by her freely & voluntarily on the day it purports to have been executed John F. Mays do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last Will of the within named Mrs. Frances A.
