Gregg of the County and State aforesaid being of Sound and disposing mind doth make appoint and declare this to be my last will and Testament. 1st In the first place: It is my wish that all my property should be kept together under the exclusive control and superintendence of my wife until my youngest child becomes of age or marries and that during that time my children be maintained, educated and supported out of the proceeds of the same. 2nd In controlling said property it is my wish that my wife should when in her opinion t interest of my estate requires it have full authority to sell exchange or dispose of any of my Negroes and the proceeds of said sale or exchange shall become apart of my estate and subject to distribution as herein after provides for 3rd When my youngest child becomes of age or marries it is my wish that all of my property shall be equally divided between my wife and children to be taken by them share and share alike 4th I hereby appoint my wife F. A. H. Gregg Executrix of this my last will and Testament George C. Gregg Signed sealed and declared by George C. Gregg his Last will and Testament in our presence and in the presence of each other this 25th July 1864 W. [ - ] Alexander A. G. Peden [ _ ] [ _ ] Peden At chambers Pike Court of Ordinary 3rd August 1866 before me came on the 3rd day of August 1866 at chambers for the purpose of proven the Last will and testament of George C. Gregg. The witnesses to said Will viz W. [ _ ] Alexander [ _ ] [ _ ] Peden & A. G. Peden and the will having been before that time brought before me for probate by the Executrix F. A. H. Gregg who has filed her petition for probate of the same. They the witnesses thus bring present [ _ ] [ _ ] Peden and A. G. Peden after being sworn depose of the same that they saw George C. Gregg sign and publish the same as his last will and Testament on the day and year then stated as executed by him; that they witnessed the same at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other That the same was voluntarily executed by him while he was of sound and disposing mind & memory. Gregg Executrix do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true Last will of the within named George C. Gregg deceased as far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the Legacies contained in the same will, as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the [ law ] charges me and that I will make a true and perfect Inventory of all the goods and chattels so help me God.
