All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Bill Russell dragonraj@comcast.net October 27, 2004, 3:48 pm Source: Pike County Probate Court Written: January 7 1837 Recorded: March 10 1837 Will of Hugh Crosson Georgia Pike County I Hugh Crosson of the State aforesaid & county of Pike, feeling myself sinking under disease & physical affliction though of sound mind & memory, through the mercies of providence make known this my last will & devise, as regards the disposition of all my estate (to wit) It is my will & desire after my death that my beloved wife Elizabeth Crosson as my sole proprietor & Superintender [sp] of all my Estate, as well real as personal during her widowhood or natural life, Except one hundred dollars which I give to my daughter Ann to be received by her twelve months after my decease. It is my will & desire should my beloved wife Elizabeth either die or intermarry that the heirs of my body my daughter Ann excepted either appoint for themselves or the court of Ordinary for them guardians to take charge or manage such part of my estate as may be allotted to each after the same should have been equally divided among them if possible without sale (my daughter Ann Crosson excepted). It is my will & desire that my beloved wife be authorized at any time after the marriage of any of my children to give them off any property she may think proper after the same shall actually be valued by a majority of the court of Ordinary of the county & said gift shall hereby be valued to such heir provided Such heir shall not receive more than an equal share with the others in which case it shall be paid back to such amt. As shall be only equal - It is my will & desire that should my beloved wife again marry that she have an equal share with all my heirs so long as she shall live and after her death the said legacy to return back to the heirs of my body all except my daughter Ann the beforementioned hundred dollars is all that I wish or desire her to have of my estate. It is my will & desire that my beloved daughter Melisa Ellen have an equal education with all my other children for the expense of which she shall not be individually charged - Commending my soul to God & beseeching his mercies on my beloved wife & children, I hereby confirm the foregoing to be my last will and desire, by subscribing my name and affixing my seal in this the Seventh day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & thirty seven. Mangham Nathan [--?--] James Crawford Georgia Pike County Court of Ordinary March Term 1837 The within last will & testament of Hugh Crosson having been duly proven at this regular term in open court, upon the oaths of Wiley E. Mangham, James Crawford & Nathan [--?--]. Ordered that the same be admitted to record as a will for personal & real estate. Georgia Pike County I Elizabeth Crosson do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will of the within named Hugh Crosson deceased so far as I know or believe & that I will well & truly execute the same by paying first the debts & then the legacies contained in said will as far as his goods & chattels will thereunto extend & the law charge me, and that I will make a true & perfect inventory of all such goods & chattels, So help me God Elizabeth Crosson her mark Sworn to & subscribed before me this 6th March 1837 in open court H.
