On the 14th day of April 1896 during the last sickness of said Essie Berry, who was rational and conscious of the fact that she could not live much longer. Said Mrs. Berry called us into her Room, and there and then said to us, I am going to die & I cannot live. Mr. John - as she called her husband J. S. Berry. I want all the property I have to go to my children. I want this place where we now live for a house for my children. Mr. John, don’t dispose of it unless you received the proceeds in another house for my children. I want you to keep in your charge all my property and use it to the best advantage for my children. Continue the Store business. Finish paying for this place where we now live, if you have to sell my other place to do so. Mr. John, I want you to do all you can for the children. I want Bettie May to finish her education if possible. I want what little money I have here at the house to be used in getting the children some summer clothing. Berry, who upon say that the above and foregoing is in substance & as deponents believe the exact words used by Mrs. Essie Berry during her last illness on the 14th day of April 1896, to us & in our presence and in the presence of each other. Gardner Georgia Pike County Pike Court of Ordinary June Term Personally came before me in open court this day the undersigned witnesses to the within will and being duly sworn say that they were present at the making of said will, that they were, being so present, bidden by said Mrs. Essie Berry to bear witness that such was her Will as now presented to this court - That said Will was made in the last sickness of Mrs. Essie Berry in her habitation in said County and was reduced to writing within thirty days after the speaking thereof Mrs. Ann R.
