I bequeath to my wife Seary(?) Ann Harp during her life one hundred acres of land whereon she now lives and a Negro woman named Nancy. All the rest of my property consisting of four lots of land in this County and two land lots and our Gold(?) lot in the Cherokee purchase also four Negroes viz - Rich, Doc, Jim and Charles and all my stock of horses, hogs, cows, sheep and any farming utensils, a gin, a thrash and all my other effects to be put up to the highest bidder and sold for cash in sixteen months from this time, one half to be paid down at the day of sale , the other half in twelve months thereafter. In addition to the one hundred acres of land and the Negro woman Nancy above named, I will to my beloved wife during her lifetime Clabe(?), Sarah, _?_ and her child. I want the proceeds of the sale of all my property except my wife's portion to be equally divided among my children Robert, Dixon, William Henry, Nancy, _?_, Emily, Amanda, Albina, John Mitchum, Alfred, Green, James Talbot, Isabel and Zachariah Taylor as they become of age and my wife Seary(?) Ann at my wifes death I want her portion of property designated in this will and its increase to be equally divided among my children their names being before mentioned as they become of age. I also appoint as executor to this will Alford P. Harp and Henry H. Hurst to carry it into effect, in case of the failure of Alford P. Harp and of Henry H. Hurst in the execution of this, I appoint Martin L. Harp to succeed either in their executorship. William Harp Sworn in the presence of Foster Bailey W.H. Holly James M. Davis do solemnly swear that we saw William Harp sign seal publish and declare this writing to be and contain his last will and at the time thereof he was of disposing mind and memory and that he did it freely without compulsion to the best of our knowledge this 7th day of December 1847.
