I Levi Martin of Pike County and State of Georgia, being in common health and I believe of sound mind, but considering the uncertainty of life, do with my own hand write this my last will and testament in form following towit First I will that my just debts be paid. 2nd I will that my beloved wife Jemima Martin by name if she should out live me remain in possession of my present home or the one that I may possess at the time of my decease and also my personal property or as much as may be necessary for her comfort during her natural lifetime or widowhood. But in the distribution of the property, I will that she take a childs part or one third in the terms of the law as she may think best. I further will that the heirs of my beloved son Jacob Martin have only five dollars not that I loved them less than my other children but because they are well provided for, and the little I could give them would be hardly noticed in his great estate, but would be much needed by the younger children. I further will that my beloved son William Martin have only five dollars as the above, for the same reason that he is well off. I further will that my beloved daughter Elizabeth Thomson as a gift to her for my love towards her have twenty five dollars although her husband has good property. The other children towit Mary Blankinship, Elijah F. Martin, Newton Martin and David N. Martin all have one hundred dollars less each of them than those children that are younger towit Isaac Martin, Joshua C. Martin and Jemima Ann Martin in consequence of what the first named children have already received. I further will that what I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Blankinship be not subject to the control of her husband but entirely left to her to dispose of as she may choose. I also appoint my son Elijah F. Martin to be my Executor to carry into effect this my last will and testament with power to sell any land on which the family does not reside, at private or public sale as he may think best for the benefit of the heirs or creditors or any personal property that he may think best by the consent of his mother _?_ before assigned. Levi Martin Signed sealed acknowledged and published in our presence and witnessed by us in presence of Testator this second day of September eighteen hundred and fifty one.
