I John M. Story of said County of Pike, in view of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make and ordain this writing to be my last will and testament chiefly I commend my soul to the mercy of him who gave it, and my body to the earth in decent Christian burial and of my worldly substance I dispose of as follows after all of my just debts are paid and burial expenses. Item 1 I give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Story a sorrel mare by the name of Ginny about five years old this spring. Item 2 I give and bequeath all my property both real and personal to my wife Mary Story and my Daughter Bede Rebecca Story for and during their natural lives and upon their death both of them I give the whole of said property both real and personal to go back (to) be equally divided between all of my children. Item 3 I hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Mary Story executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 14th Fourteenth day of April Eighteen hundred and fifty four. John M. Story sign and seal and heard him publish and declare this writing to be and contain his will and at the time thereof he was of sound disposing mind and memory and that he did it freely without compulsion to the best of our knowledge and belief. Beckham State of Georgia Pike County I do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will and testament of John M. Story deceased so far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the legacies contained in said will as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the law charges me and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God.
