I Anderson Stafford who now have my residence with William J. Willis of Upson County do constitute make and ordain this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others. Chiefly I commend my soul to the mercy of Him who gave it and my body to the earth in Christian burial. Item I wish my just debts be paid out of my money and notes. Item In my last marriage it was agreed that my present wife Sarah should keep and dispose of her property of which she has enough and in accordance with our understanding I now hereby give and bequeath all my property real and personal eights(?) and credits of every kind whatever to my five children Ellis, Alvis, James H. and Anderson W. Stafford and Minerva Willis share and share alike. Item It is my desire that my Negroes do not go out of my family. I therefore wish my children to agree among themselves if they can for some one ar more of them to have the Negroes at a price to be set by them; and if I have land my wish is that my children have the preference in taking that at its worth. Item I hereby nominate and appoint James H. Stafford and Alvis Stafford executors to this will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Seventeenth day of October 1854 Anderson Stafford Signed sealed acknowledged and published as a will before us. We subscribing at the request of the Testator as witnesses in presence of Testator George B. James John A. Smith John Gardner(?) State of Georgia Pike County We George B. James, John A. Smith and John Gardner(?) the three subscribing witnesses to the within will do solemnly swear that we saw Anderson Stafford sign seal and heard him publish and declare this writing to be and contain his last will and at the time thereof he was of sound disposing mind and memory that he did it freely without compulsion to the best of of our knowledge and belief.
