All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Bill Russell dragonraj@comcast.net July 31, 2004, 11:51 am Source: Will Book C P. 448-449 Pike County Probate Court Written: March 22 1860 Recorded: March 1870 Georgia Pike County I Roland Jackson of the County and State aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind and legally competent to make a will, doth make appoint and declare this to be my last will and testament: In the first place it is my will that all my just debts shall be promptly paid 2nd It is my wish that my wife Jane Jackson shall have the whole of my estate both real and personal; and I hereby give bequeath and devise to her the plantation on which we reside and six negroes to wit, Mary a woman about forty years of age: Martha about sixteen years of age and Elija about fourteen years of age: Wright a boy about seventeen years of age, Wesley about three years of age and Hensy [?] about two years of age: To have and to hold the said land and negroes to my said wife her heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. 3rd I give and bequeath to my said wife my growing crops, my household and kitchen furniture - my stock of cattle - hogs and sheep - my mules and horses - my money - notes and accounts - together with the issue of my negroes and stock and any other description of property of which I may die seized [?] or possessed to her and her heirs forever in fee simple. Revoking all other wills which I may have heretofore made, I have hereunto set my hand and seal to this my last will and testament on this the 19th day of March 1860 Rowland [sp] (his mark) Jackson Signed sealed acknowledged and declared before us in the presence of the testor and in the presence of each other this the 22 day of March 1860 William Pryor Matthew Coggins S Oren Jones Pike Court of Ordinary March Term 1870 The Will of Rowland [sp] Jackson being produced in open Court for probate by Mrs. Jane Jackson wife of Said decd who has filed her petition to prove the Same and the Witnesses to Said Will - William Pryor, Matthew Coggins & S.O. Jones having subscribed the following affidavit [-----] on said Will March Term 1870 Pike County Ordinary Came into open court at this term of the court William Pryor Matthew Coggins & S. O. Jones and being duly sworn depose that they saw Rowland Sign and Publish the within Will, as his last Will and Testament while of sound and disposing mind that the witnesses the same for him at his request and in his presence, and of each other, and that the same was executed voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed.
