All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Bill Russell dragonraj@comcast.net August 1, 2004, 12:31 pm Source: Will Book C P 456-458 Pike County Probate Court Written: May 3 1870 Recorded: June 12 1871 Will of William Pryor Georgia Pike County I William Pryor of the County and State aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind doth make appoint and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all others 1st Having made for my children all the provisions which I deem necessary in my present condition and circumstances, I consider it my duty as well as pleasure to provide liberally to the extent of my means for my beloved and faithful wife Lucy Pryor and having this object in mind I give devise and bequeath to her the plantation on which I live in said County, together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, together with all the horses, mules, cattle, sheep, hogs, farming utensils of every description, buggy, household and kitchen furniture, provisions, money and the whole of my real and personal estate of which I may die seised [?] and possessed including a half interest in a fine lot of land which I own in the 9th District of formerly Monroe now Pike County containing one hundred, one and one fourth acres more or less to have and to hold said property to my said wife for her exclusive use and benefit forever 2nd It is my earnest wish that my wife shall have a comfortable home during her life and that she will not under any circumstance whatever break up housekeeping or part with the homestead. 3rd The burial ground located on the plantation of my residence is hereby expressly reserved and shall be appropriated and used as a family cemetery and for no other purpose 4th I hereby appoint my wife Lucy Pryor my Executrix of this my will, with full authority to execute the same In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the third of May 1870 Wm (his mark) Pryor Signed, sealed, declred and published by William Pryor as his last will and testament in our presence as attesting witnesses and in the presence of the testator and at his request and in the presence of each other on the day and year aforesaid Wm. Pryor Pike Court of Ordinary June Term 1871 The will of William Pryor being produced in open court for probate by the Executrix who has file his petition to prove the same and two of the witnesses to said will Matthew Coggin and A. J. Pryor having subscribed the following affidavit indorsed on said will June Term 1871 of Pike Court of Ordinary Came into open court at this regular term of the court, A. J. Pryor and Matthew Coggin and being duly sworn depose that they saw William Pryor sign and publish the within as his last will and Testament while of sound and disposing mind, that they witnessed the same for him at his request and in his presence and of each other, and that the same was executed voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed A.
