All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Bill Russell dragonraj@comcast.net August 3, 2004, 12:28 pm Source: Pike County Probate Court Will Book C Written: November 12 1862 Recorded: January 8 1863 State of Georgia Pike County I Joseph Chandler of the County and State aforesaid make publish and declare this writing to contain my last will and testament Item 1st I will that all my just debts if any be paid Item 2nd I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Wesely Ann Chandler all my Land south of the pine mountain all my household and kitchen furniture my buggy and bay mare Item 3rd I will and bequeath the whole of the remainder of my estate of what kind soever [sp] to my daughter Lizzie and request that my wife take into her possession and manage the whole of Lizzies estate as she in her judgment may deem for the advantage of Lizzie and that she continue so to manage Said property until Lizzie arrives to the age of twenty one years or marries at which time her mother is to turn her property so willed and managed over to her for her absolute rule and control and Should my Said wife Wesley Ann marry or die before Lizzie should marry or arrive at the age of twenty one years then and in that event the Court of Ordinary to appoint some fit and proper person to manage Lizzies property in lieu of her mother Item 4th Will is that should my wife have another child born to me then and in that Event the portion being willed to Lizzie is to be equally divided between her and such child So to be bor Item 5th My will wish and desire is that my wife Wesely Ann act as my Executrix to this my [“last” marked out] In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 12th day of Nov 1862 Joseph Chandler Signed Sealed published and declared in our presence this 12th day of Nov. 1862 H. Hugely Pike Court of Ordinary Dec Term 1863 The will of Joseph Chandler being produced in open Court for probate by the Executrix who has filed her petition to prove the same and the witness to said will H. Green having subscribed the following affidavit endorsed said will came into open court at this regular term of the Court H. Green and being duly sworn depose that he saw Joseph Chandler Sign and heard him publish the same as his last will on the day and year then stated as executed by him while of Sound and disposing mind that he witnessed the same for him at his request and in presence of each other and that the same was executed voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed H. Calford[?] Green J. Sims Ordinary I Wesley Ann Chandler do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will of the within named Joseph Chandler decd so far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the Legacies contained in said will as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the Law charge me and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God Wesely Ann Chandler J.
