Jordan of Said County and State being at this time of feeble health but of sound mind and memory and desirous of availing myself of the privilege of disposing of my property after my death, do now make this my last will and Testament in manner following. That is to say Item 1st. As my soul is not at my own disposal I commend it to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who is the resurrection and my Hope of thereof is known. I have for many years trusted - I will and request that my body after my death be decently interred in the usual Christian manner. Item 2nd. I will direct and bequeath that my Executor hereinafter appointed as soon as practicable after my death pay all my just debts. Item 3rd. I will bequeath and devise unto my beloved wife Mary Jordan during her natural life or widowhood all my estate both real and personal of every kind and after the death of my beloved wife I wish and will the same to be equally divided among all my children, but in the event that my beloved wife should marry again it is my will wish and desire that a division of my estate then take place among my beloved wife and all my children equally share & share alike. Item 4th. I will wish and desire and hereby authorise my beloved wife if she should deem it best to make advances to any of my children as they may arrive at lawful age or marry not exceeding the equal share that would be coming to each of them at the general division. The same to be taken into the account at the time and also any advances that I have heretofore made or may hereafter make to any of my beloved children. Item 5th. I appoint by beloved son J. T. Jordan Executor of this my last will and Testament whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 9th day August A. D. Eighteen Hundred and fifty nine (1859) John T. Jordan each one hundred Dollars I do therefore by this codicil provide that each of my younger children receive a like sum as they become of age or marry to make them equal with their older brothers. Jordan Sign Seal and heard him publish & declare this writing to be and contain his true last will and testament and at the time thereof he was of sound and disposing mind and memory and that he did it freely without compulsion to the best of our knowledge and belief and we do further swear that the said James C. Holmes sign the same as Witness by mark. Using his mark in our presence and in the presence of the testator and we further swear that testator made declared and signed the within codicil in our presence but that we failed to sign the same as witnessed sworn to and subscribed in open court this Nov 7th, 1859.
