Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Feb. 21, 1896 A special session of the court of ordinary was held last Monday by Judge Blasingame to hear the case of James G. Holmes application for guardianship of the person and property of Louise Holmes. Louise is a pretty little girl about three years old. Her aunt, Miss Eliza Beckham, asks that the guardianship be vested in her. She was represented by Col. S.N. Woodward, while Mr. Holmes was represented by Col. Joseph J. Rogers. The ordinary decided that the property, amounting to three or four thousand dollars, should be turned over to Holmes and that the person of the child be given to Miss Beckham. The judgment was rendered accordingly. (Transcribed 11/17/02 Lynn Cunningham)
