All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: William Russell dragonraj@comcast.net September 10, 2006, 12:29 pm Source: Will Book C Pike County Probate Court Written: February 24, 1864 Recorded: March 18, 1864 Georgia Pike County In the name of God Amen I Alfred Perdue being sound both in body & mind but knowing the frailty of human nature and the uncertainty of life I make and publish this my last will & testament in the manner & form following viz Item 1st I give and bequeath my Soul to God who gave it & desire that my body be decently buried by my executrix hereinafter appointed Item 2nd I give & bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Ann Perdue the whole of my estate both real and personal for and during her natural lifetime to be managed by her in as freeful & ample manner as I could do were I living so far as to buy sell or give off a portion of the property if she thinks proper to do so to either of my four children as they become of age viz. Daniel W. M., Luraney [?] Howard Jamerson & Simon [?] Perdue Item 3rd I hereby appoint my beloved wife Mary Ann Perdue my Executrix to see that my will as herein contained is faithfully executed Item 4th I desire that my Executrix shall pay promptly all my debts if any Item 5th I desire that all of my estate both real & personal shall be equally divided after my wife death between my four children named in the second Item of this will or such of them as may be living at that time or the legal representatives of such child if any that may be dead the representatives drawing only the share or part that it’s parents would have been entitled to if living Item 6th I hereby declare that it is my intention & desire that my Executrix shall not be subject to the inconvenience of making annual returns to the Ordinary of her actings & doings as Executrix of my estate In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal acknowledging in the presence of the undersigned Witnesses that the foregoing 6 items contain my last will & testament hereby revoking any former will that I may have heretofore made Alfred Perdue We the undersigned witnesses certify that Alfred Perdue acknowledges the foregoing will to be his voluntary act & that he signed the same in our presence & that we signed in the presence of each other. Pound Pike County Ordinary March Term 1864 The will of Alfred Perdue being produced in open court for probate by the Executrix who has filed her petition to have the same and the witnesses to said Will Thos S. M. Bloodworth Burrell Green & Robt. B. Pound having [ _ ] the following affidavit indorse on said will March term 1864 of Pike Court of Ordinary came into open court at this regular term of the CourtThos. S. M. Bloodworth and being duly sworn depose that he saw Alfred Perdue sign and publish the within as his last will and testament while of sound and disposing mind and that he witnessed the same for him at his request and in his presence and of each other and that the same was executed voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed Thos. S. M. Bloodworth Sworn to and Subscribed before me in open court March term 1864 J. Sims Ordinary Georgia Pike County I Mary A. Perdue do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will of the within named Alfred Perdue deceased so far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the legacies contained in Said will as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the Law charge me and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God Mary Ann Perdue Recorded March the 18th 1864 J.
