I Abraham S. Wright of said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart this life, deem it right and proper both as respects my family and myself that I should make disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me, do therefore make and ordain this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others hereto fore made by me. 1st Item I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition in life, my soul I trust shall return to and with God who gave it as I hope for salvation through the merits and atonements of the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose religion I have hoped and humbly had here enjoyed for many years. 2nd Item I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid by my executor herein after appointed as I am unwilling that my creditors should be delayed especially as there is no cause for delay. 3rd Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Pricilla M. Wright, with whom I have lived in great peace and quiet, my Negro man Sinclair(?) and Negro woman Milly and her child Mandy and _?_ increase and my three Negro boys Joe John and Ernest and all of my household goods and plantation tools and stock of every kind to be hers for lifetime only - I desire her to live by working the said Negroes or hiring them when and where she may think proper within the limits of the State of Georgia, and at the death of my wife Pricilla M. Wright, I desire and direct that my daughter Lurasy(?) Potts have Sinclair(?), Milly, Mandy, Joe, John and Ernest and all my household furniture to her and the heirs of her body(?) forever. Item 4th I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Bates(?) 40 acres of land in TAlapossa County, Alabama in the north east quarter of section N. twelve in Township twenty four of Range N. twenty two east. Item 5th I give and bequeath to my son William J. Wright two notes of hand(?) on himself one for five hundred dollars due this 25th of December 1839 and one for twelve hundred due the 13th of January 1840. Item 6th And all the residue of my property if any I desire to be sold and equally divided between my daughters Lurasy(?), Elizabeth and my son William J. Wright. Abraham S. Wright Signed sealed published and declared by Abraham S. Wright to be his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribers who have subscribed our names hereto in the presence of the testator and at his special instance and request and in the presence of each other this 23rd day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine. John E. Dukes Richard Manry(?) John P. Hunt(?) Item 7th I constitute and appoint my worthy friend John H. Akins executor of this my last will and testament this 23rd of March 1849. Abraham S. Wright sign and publish and declare this writing to be and contain his will and at the time thereof he was of sound disposing mind and memory and that he did it freely without compulsion to the best of our knowledge and that we also saw John E. State of Georgia Pike Count I James E. Potts do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will and testament of Abraham S. Wright deceased and that I will well and truly execute the same as administrator with said will _?_ of the Estate of said descendant by paying first the debts and then the legacies contained in said will as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the law charges me and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God.
