I Mary Gilder of state and county being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world, deeming it right and proper both as represents myself and my family, that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me. I therefore make this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all others heretofore made by me. Item First I desire and direct my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition, my soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it and I hope for eternal salvation through the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose religion I have professed and as I humbly trust enjoyed for twenty four years. Item Second I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors herein after named as I am unwilling my creditors should be delayed of their rights especially as there is no necessity for delay. Item Third I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary A. H. Gilder and to the heirs of her body, a Negro boy by the name of Bill about eleven years also to my said daughter and to her heirs forever and also half of lot of land N. one, it being the south half adjoining John Bu(?) originally Monroe now Pike County and in the first original district with all the rights, numbers, and apportiments(sp) to lot of land in anywise _?_ and belonging forever, and our feather bed and furniture. Item Fourth I give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza W. Gilder and to her heirs of her body a Negro boy by the name of Da(?) about ten years old also my boy Harrison eight years old , two feather beds and furniture. Item Fifth The rest of my property both real and personal _?_ and whatever it may be I devise it to be sold and then pay out of it to Evelin B. Lavender, my daughter, two hundred and fifty dollars and also pay my daughter Mary A.H. Gilder the balance that may be due to her, as my guardianship for her yet unpaid, which will be _?_ by expenses to _?_ Clerks Books. And also my daughter Eliza W. Gilder, the balance that may be due to her as my guardianship for her yet unpaid which I _?_ my executor to the Clerks Books - and after paying off all of the above named debts and others paid over, I desire if there be any left to be equally divided among all of my children - I desire that Leah and her child Mary sold together and stay together. Item Sixth I constitute and appoint my son Uriah M. Gilder and my daughter Mary A.H. Gilder executor and executrix to this my last will and testament. Martin do solemnly swear that we saw Mary Gilder sign (by making her mark) publish and declare this writing to be and contain will and at the time thereof she was of sound disposing mind and memory and that she did it freely without compulsion to the best of our knowledge.
