Item 1st I bequeath and devise to my son Johathan Adams and his heirs forever two Negro boys named Tom and Ben. Item 2nd I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane C. Walker the following named Negroes, Isaac a man, Lucy a woman, Lena a woman, and her two youngest children Jack and Charles, the above named Negroes with their future increase I give to her and her heirs forever. Item 3rd I bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Mangham the following named Negroes, Linday a woman, Aggy a woman, Cyntha a woman, Shadrack a man, and Hampton a boy, with their future increase to her and heirs forever. Item 4th I give to the children of my son Caleb B. Adams and to such as he may hereafter have, the Negroes herein named, Sarah a woman, and her four children Mary, Sarah, Gabriel, and Moses, also Simeon a boy, which Negroes must be kept together until the children of said Caleb B. Adams shall become of age or marry and given in the following order, when either one of said children arrives at the age of twenty one years or marries then the one so of age or marrying shall receive one of said Negroes as a temporary division to proceed until the youngest child shall become of age, after which an equal division must take place. Item 5th I give and bequeath to my son Jefferson Adams the following named Negroes, Tony a man, Judy a woman, Elisha a boy, Emanuel a boy, Aaron a boy, Gilbert a boy, Amanda a girl, Julia a woman, Jim a man and Billy a man. The above Negroes with their future increase I give to him and his heirs forever. Item 6th I give to my daughter Rebecca Mangham all the household and kitchen furniture which I have with me and which I shall hereafter dispose of otherwise. Item 7th I give to my daughter Jane C. Walker one feather bed headstand. The other of my household furniture and kitchen utensils at my plantation, I wish sold and the money equally divided between my daughters Jane and Rebecca. Item 8th My will and desire is that all my property both real and personal not hereto fore disposed of in this will be sold and after paying all my just debts with the proceeds there from, the balance be divided in the following manner. My son Caleb B. Adams must have eight hundred dollars, my son Jefferson Adams must have four hundred dollars and the remainder equally divided between Jonathan Adams, Caleb B. Adams, Jane C. Walker and Rebecca Mangham. Item 9th I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son Jonathan Adams executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and testaments heretofore made by me. Georgia Pike County Court of Ordinary Sept term 1837 The last will and testament of Betsy Adams having been duly proven at this regular term in open court upon the oaths of Jepitha (?) George, Joseph H. Shivers and Archibald A. Porter ordered that the same be admitted to record. Georgia Pike County I Jonathan Adams do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will of the within named Betsy Adams deceased so far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the legacies contained in the said will as far as her goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the law charge me, and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God.
