Pitts Georgia Pike County In the name of God Amen I Thomas N. Pitts of the County and State aforesaid knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and being in feeble state of body, but of sound mind and disposing memory, I do hereby constitute appoint make and declare this my last Will and Testament as follows. 1st It is my will and desire that my debts be paid out of the proceeds of the present and next years crops if sufficient, and if that should not be sufficient with what debts and accounts due me allowing for family use a sufficiency. I hereby direct my Executors to sell of my Estate enough for that purpose. It is my will and desire that my Estate after my debts are paid that my negroes and other property be kept together 2 Also it is my will and desire that my beloved wife Nancy after my death she shall receive and have for her benefit and use during her natural life twice the amount out of my estate that may be a share or portion of one child upon an equal division among all my children - But at the death of my wife Nancy in the event of her marrying again after my death the property she receives from my Estate for her lifetime use shall revert to my children and to be equally divided among them. 3 And it is my will and desire that my children shall receive from my Estate equally as they may become of age or may marry and that after any one of my children shall receive their equal portion of my Estate by becoming of age or Marrying that the balance or residue of my Estate shall be kept together and each child receive his or her part of the Estate as they may become of age or may marry, and it is my will and desire that the place whereon myself and family now live shall be sold when my Executor shall think best and the money be appropriated to the purchase of land that may be more suitable to the interest and advantage of my family & Estate 4th And I Thomas N. Pitts do hereby constitute and appoint and nominate my dear and beloved wife Nancy Pitts and my dear brother William H. Pitts my Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby empowering them with all the legal rights of Executor & Executrix to my Estate, signed with my hand and seal this ninth day of December and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three Thomas N. Ready do solemnly swear that we saw Thomas N. Pitts sign seal publish and declare this writing to be and contain his will that at the time thereof he was of sound disposing mind and memory and that he did it freely without compulsion to the best of our knowledge this 17th day of January 1844 David N.
