Mr. John Steven (Steve) Black, 24, Cliff Rd., Taylorsville, died February 10, 
2004. Mr. Black was born November 8, 1979 in Floyd County, son of John and 
Marlene Holland Black. He was a 1998 graduate of Cartersville High School and a 
2003 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he was a member of the 
Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church, Aragon. 
Surviving are his parents, John and Marlene Black, Taylorsville; sister, Haley 
Black, Taylorsville; nephews, Mason Black and Giles Turner; paternal 
grandmother, Mrs. Katye Harris Black, Taylorsville; maternal grandmother, Mrs. 
Aillene Holland, Rockmart; number of aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral 
service was conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2004 in the Owen Funeral 
Home chapel, Cartersville, with Rev. Josh Cowart and Matt Edwards officiating. 
Interment was held in Euharlee Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were 
Joey Garcia, Adam Turner, Andrew Turner, Matt Goodwin, Wes Lewis, Bill Free, 
Jason Wheeler and David Bagwell. Honorary pallbearers were school and
