January 19, 2007, 10:08 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, January 23, 2003 Mary Elizabeth Brookshire, 85, of 34 Walnut St., Aragon, Died Sunday Jan. 12, 2003 in a Rome Hospital. She was born July 11, 1917 in Polk County and was retired from the Dietary Department of the Polk School District, and a member of the Aragon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Murphy and Beulah Mae Layton Bishop. She is survived by her husband, Turner Brookshire of Aragon. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Tyra John Matthews of Rockmart and Myra and Stanley Dean of Silver Creek; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The graveside services were held at Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Aragon Cemetery with Rev. Gary Parris officiating. Interment followed at the Aragon Cemetery. The following Grandsons served as active pallbearers: Tyra John Matthews, Jr., Stanley Dean, David Duke, Allen Duke, Cole Duke and Drew Fuqua. Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
