Mrs. Katherine “Kathy” Compton, 46, 84 Compton Circle, Rockmart, died December 
6, 2003. Mrs. Compton was born March 24, 1957 in Paulding County. She owned and 
operated a local poultry farm, and was a member of New Freedom Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by daughter, Ms. Charlene Hatness. Surviving are 
husband, J.C. Compton, Rockmart, to whom she married in 1975; father, Theron 
Harden, Cartersville; mother, Hazel Wigley Harden, Dallas; son, Marcus Compton, 
Austell; daughters, Mrs. Angela Smith, Duluth and Ms. Belinda Woodward, 
Cedartown; brothers, Ricky Harden, Yorkville, Aubrey Harden and Hugh Dean, both 
of Dallas; sister, Mrs. Elaine Abram, Dallas; six grandchildren. The funeral 
service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 in the Freeman Harris 
Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Darrell Brazier officiating. Interment was held 
in the Yorkville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hugh Thorn-ton, Shane Thornton, Ron 
Brown, Ken Compton, Jimmy Kelly, Michael Dichiara and Ricky Compton. Gerald 
Compton served as honorary pallbearer. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home had
