January 19, 2007, 9:38 am (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, January 07, 2003) Doris Iola Riordan Couch, 86, of 5934 Rome Rd., Cedartown, passed away Tuesday evening at her residence. Mrs. Couch was born on March 7, 1916, to one of the pioneering families of the Floyd County. She and her husband donated the land for Cedar Valley Baptist Church and both were charter members. They operated a vegetable stand for several years after their retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Caldwell Couch; her parents, Samuel Jeremiah Riordan and Ora Gertrude Mauney Riordan; sons, Charles Caldwell Couch, Jr., Lidelle “Jake” Dewood Couch and Ronald Neal Couch; sisters, Margarette Riordan, Ruth Gray and June Steed; brothers, Jerry, Rex, Ned Sam, Jr., Dan and Rodney Riordan. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Standeford of Cedartown; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Elgin Williams officiated, and interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Michael, David and Dennis Strandeford, Joe Oxenreider, Chris Armer and Joey Mitchell. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
