Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., May 19, 2003
Joyce K. Couey, 71, of 93 Frances Dr., Cedartown, passed away Sunday, April 27, 
2003. She was born April 4, 1932 in Floyd County and retired from BellSouth in 
1972. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt Kerns and Pauline Tracy 
Kerns. Survivors include: husband, Thomas Edward Couey; daughters, Tracy Couey 
and Julie Couey Ownes; sister, Margaret Hill; and five grandchildren. Funeral 
services were conducted Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of 
the Gammage Funeral Home with Dr. David Taylor officiating. Interment followed 
in Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Todd Couey, Howard Lester, T. J. Couey, 
Ralph Rutledge, and Jimmy Woodfin. Donations may be made to the First Baptist 
Church memorial Fund. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
