James Kenneth Dooley, 78, of 610 Collard Valley Rd. died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in a Rome hospital. Rev. Dooley was born May 29, 1924, in Polk County. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, he had served as a Baptist minister since 1953 and was a member of Worldview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim” Powell and Martha Sevilla Gore Dooley; brother, Herbert Dooley; sisters, Myrtle Manning and Bertha Rae Neville. Survivors include wife, Rachel Naomi Barnette Dooley of Cedartown; sons, Kenneth Larry Dooley of Cleveland and Jim Dooley of Cedartown; daughter, Marsha Barnett of Centre, AL.; brother, Johnny Dooley of Aragon; sister, Margaret Allmon of Rome; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service was held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Worldview Baptist Church. Dr. Larry Connor and Rev. Charles Williams officiated, and interment followed in Aragon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Davis, Robert Ayers, Eddie Allmon, Mike Dooley, Ryan Williams and Lee Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. George Phillips, Max Moore, Dale Long, Doyle Spann, Crotell Worsham, Wayne Cole, Robert Kinney and Bobby Hollis. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
