He was born April 28, 1919 in Sonoraville, GA and was a member of the Sonoraville Baptist Church. He was retired from Lockheed Aerospace and was a World War II veteran, serving with the U. S. Army. He had tours of duty in both Belgium and Germany during the “Battle of the Bulge.” He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Emma Stewart French; sisters, Mattiel Lee French and Floyce Burns; brother, Butler French. Survivors include daughters, Beverly Worley and Susan Stuart, both of Calhoun; sister, Freddie Shook of Ringgold; 5 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 3 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Stephens and Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. Interment followed in the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The Thomas Funeral Home of Calhoun, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
