Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net October 12, 2006, 11:00 am Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., July 24, 2003 Alonzo Van Gray, Sr. of Clemmons, North Carolina, 86, passed away at his residence June 24, 2003. He was born Jan. 21, 1917 in Spalding County and was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from Southern Railway with thirty – six years of service. A Mason, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annie Barron Gray. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bonnell Dial Gray of Clemmons; daughters, Louise McElwee of Clemmons and Sandra Gray of Winston-Salem; son, Van Gray of Roswell; five grandchildren, eight great – grandchildren, one great – great – grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 26 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel at 2 p.m. with Dr. Billy Dickerson officiating.
