Edward Joseph Downey, age 65 of Rome, passed away Monday, October 14, 1996 in a 
Rome hospital.  Mr. Downey was born March 7, 1931 in Fairhaven, Massachusetts.  
He was a cook and of the Catholic faith.  He was preceded in death by his wife, 
Jeanne Downey, and parents, Edward J. and Anna Lewis Downey.  Surviving are; 
daughter, Christine Richey of Rockmart, and granddaughter, Ashley Kimberlyn 
Richey of Rockmart.  Graveside services were held Friday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. 
from the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Douglasville, with Deacon W. O. Rusmisel 
officiating. .  The Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
