Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 24, 2004, 12:44 pm (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, Ga., Tuesday, August 10, 1993, page5) Charles Jones Vance, Jr., of 1150 Timothy Road, Athens, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 1992. A native of Haralson County, Mr. Vance lived his early years and most of his life in Cedartown, before moving to Athens. He was the son of the late Charles Jones and Mildred Thornton Vance, Sr. and the husband of Charlotte Haney Vance. He was a member of Cedartown First Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy Air Corps, a member of the Athens Country Club and attended Georgia Tech. He was a self-employed owner of a dry cleaning business. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mary Lois Darden and Mildred Frew, both of Cedartown; one brother, John Joseph Vance of Cedartown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 5, at 10:30 a.m. from the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home. Graveside services were Thursday, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Cedartown. The Lord and Stephens Funeral Home of Athens had charge of the arrangements.
