Mr. G. W. A. McKinney, one of Polks best citizens, died at his home at Fish 
last Thursday, the 25th, in his seventy-sixth year. He was born in Rabun 
county, Ga., April 14th, 1826, and later in life was Clerk of the Superior 
Court of Towns county, and served for four years as a Commissioner of Roads and 
Revenues. He was a good citizen, and will be keenly missed by his neighbors and 
the community in which he lived. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. 
Davis and Rev. Wm. Waddell in the present of a large number of sorrowing 
friends and relatives, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at 
Friendship church.
