Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 24, 2004, 1:45 pm (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., February 19, 1968, page 4) James Monroe Williams, age 70, of Rockmart, passed away at his home Friday, Feb. 16th. Mr. William was born in Paulding County, GA., May 14, 1897, a son of the late Jim and Ida Jacobs Williams. He was a member of Vanwert Baptist Church and a retired textile employee. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Estelle Byers Williams of Rockmart: five sons, James Williams, Jimmy Williams, Marvin Williams and Donald Williams, all of Rockmart and Junior Williams of Washington, D.C.; five daughters, Mrs. Renee Carter, Mrs. Christine Foster, Miss Pauline Williams, Miss Sue Williams and Miss Betty Williams, all of Rockmart; four brothers, Fed Williams and Louis Williams, both of Rockmart, Bob Williams, Lindale and Homer Williams, Silver Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Etta Mae Proctor, Aragon, Miss Mary Williams, Rockmart, Mrs. J. C. Powell Rome; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 18th at 2 P.M. from the Vanwert Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Pyle, the Rev. Joe Scott and the Rev. Thurston Bishop officiating. Interment followed in Aragon Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Robert Hudson, Zack Laney, Paul Waters, Burt McDonald, Hansel Waites and Tommy Montgomery. Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart was in charge of arrangement.
