Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 24, 2004, 2:08 pm (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, Ga, Thursday, April 5, 1979, page 21) Lennye Vida Phillips Brooks, age 82, of 311 Stubbs Street, Cedartown passed away Tuesday morning at Polk General Hospital. Mrs. Brooks was the former Miss Lennye Vida Phillips. She was born June 22, 1896 in Manderville, Ga., but had lived most of her life in Polk County. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Woodman Circle. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Tom Goss and Mrs. Jean Elrod, both of Cedartown; one brother, Mr. Henry Phillips of Cedartown; one sister, Mrs. Ann Gates of Cedartown; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. James Benefield and the Rev. Cecil W. Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mitch Elrod, Ned Elrod, Brad Goss, Mike Rice, Terry Nichols, Dennis Stroup, Dan Garmon, Zack Nichols and Carlis Kelley. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.
