Leamon Andrew Smith, 58, of 604 East Ave., died Thursday afternoon in Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after a short illness. Mr. Smith was born May 15, 1896 in Polk County. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church, a Mason, and had been sales-manager of Pickett Chevrolet Company since 1927. Rev. Smith was ordained to preach in 1920. He had lived in Polk County his entire life. Funeral services will be held in the Second Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Heyward Baxter, the Rev. Buddy York and the Rev. Grover Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery, with the Cave Spring Masonic Lodge in charge. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Odarine Stephenson; one son, Dr. Fred C. Smith of Atlanta; his mother, Mrs. L. V. Smith of Cedartown; one brother Webb Smith of Cedartown; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph Stephens, Mrs. Bob Whitehead, Mrs. Dolly Wood of Cedartown, and Mrs. Jesse Couzzourt of Milledgeville, and Mrs. Alec Stephenson of Cedartown and two grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be John Pickett, John Burton, S.M. Carden, Euzelle Lee, David Morgan, and Willard Ledbetter. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. J. H. Mull, the Rev. Clifford Chandler, the Rev. J. W. Clinton, The Rev. Ivey Cash, the Rev. Robert Lloyd, and the Rev. Grady Kines. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
