James Ralph Stephens, Sr., 92, of Stephens Road, Cedartown, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2000 in an out of town hospital. Mr. Stephens was born June 18, 1907 in Rehobeth Community, Cave Spring. He was a retired superintendent with H. E. Hennigh, Inc. with 50 years service and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. J.W. Stephens and Mrs. Mary Pope Stephens; four sisters; four brothers; daughter, Margaret Ann Stephens; and son, Daniel Stephens. Surviving are: wife, Argis S. Stephens; daughters, Jeanette Stephens, Nancy Nix; sons, L. A. Stephens Sr., Ralph Stephens Jr., Darrell Stephens Jr., and Earnest Stephens; brother, Harold Stephens; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 6, at 3 p.m., from the Chapel of The Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Reginald Campbell, Rev. Amos Whitman and Rev. Gene Beck officiating. The interment followed in New Harmony Cemetery. Pallbearers were: grandsons, Phil Stephens, Ralph Stephens III, Leamon Stephens, James Stephens, Sammy Stephens, Darrell Stephens Jr., Billy Nix, Larry Lyle and Chad Landrum. Honorary pallbearers were: granddaughters, Darlene Smith, Brenda Elkins, Dinnette Sweezey, Cindy Brown, Theresa Stapler, Renee Stephens, Valarie Kelley, Andrea Lyle, Rhonda Landrum and Amy Nix.
